CAT SHELTER

HAVE A PET YOU CAN'T KEEP?

The Petersburg Humane Association has a temporary shelter for cats, but none for dogs at this time. We do, however, foster dogs who have nowhere else to go, as we work to build a permanent shelter for both dogs and cats.  All these animals need homes.  If you have an animal you cannot find a home for and are unable to keep, give us a chance to help.

Our shelter provides temporary housing for cats awaiting a permanent home.  Please be aware that we are an all volunteer organization with limited shelter capacity.

DOG FOSTERING

HOW TO BECOME A FOSTER PARENT

Petersburg Humane Association will make every effort to make an appropriate match to your family's needs when placing an animal in temporary care. Potential foster parents will be asked to fill out an application for foster.

DOG PARK

WALK & SOCIALIZE YOUR DOG IN A SAFE PLACE

PHA provides a public dog park on land leased from the Petersburg Borough. There are two fenced areas where dogs can play off leash in a natural setting. Additionally, you can take your canine pal on an unfenced loop trail through the muskeg. The dog parks are located on either side of our shelter parking lot at 1600 Haugen Drive above Sandy Beach Park. Users of the dog park and trails do so at their own risk and are required to follow park rules.

VOLUNTEER

OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP OUT

We need volunteers to help with a variety of jobs such as foster care, shelter animal care, fundraisers, park and trail maintenance to name a few.

LINKS TO ARTICLES

Animals are living creatures that deserve our care and respect. Companion animals depend on their humans and others of our species to protect them and give them the care they need. The more you know about your pets, the more likely you'll know what they need and be able to provide it.
